“Kabul” Workout (WOD)

This workout is dedicated to the 13 soldiers who died on August 26, 2021, at Kabul International Airport in Afghanistan while on a dangerous mission to save others’ lives.

They were assisting in the evacuation of US citizens and Afghan nationals who were friendly. Thirteen soldiers, 11 Marines, an Army Corpsman, and a Navy Corpsman were killed.

The soldiers who sacrificed their lives were:

  • Hunter Lopez – 22
  • Taylor Hoover – 31

  • Jared Schmitz – 20
  • Kareem Nikoui – 20
  • Max Soviak – 22

The workout was designed by Victor Anderson @victortovictorpt, CF-L1.

The rep scheme represents: 13 reps for the 13 soldiers who made the ultimate sacrifice, 2,200-meter row for 22 as the soldiers’ average age.

The CrossFit “Kabul” WOD is as follows:

Complete 8 rounds of the prescribed work in the order written as quickly as possible (For Time) with a running clock Then, to round out the workout, row 2,200 meters.

  • 13 Deadlifts (155/105 lb)
  • 13 AbMat Sit-Ups
  • 13 Push-Ups
  • 13 Pull-Ups
  • 13 Kettlebell Swings (70/53 lb)
  • 13 Dumbbell Box Step-Ups (2×25/15 lb, 20 in)
  • 13 Burpees
  • 13 Dumbbell Push Presses (2×25/15 lb)
