Walt Disney’s “Frozen II”, opened to a record $127 million in the U.S. and a fiery $350 million worldwide launch.
“Frozen II” opened at No. 1 in 37 foreign markets, passing “Ice Age: Dawn of the Dinosaurs” to become the biggest international launch ever for an animated movie.
Disney has had five blockbusters this year: “Avengers: Endgame”, “The Lion King”, “Captain Marvel”, “Aladdin”, and “Toy Story 4” that have made more than $1 billion globally.
Meanwhile, “Ford v Ferrari” ‘s domestic total stands at $57.9 million, while it earned another $14.7 million overseas from 43 foreign markets. Those receipts take the racing drama past $100 million worldwide.
Third place went to Sony’s debuting “A Beautiful Day in the Neighborhood” — starring Tom Hanks as the late Fred Rogers — which brought in $13.5 million. Fourth place went to the Chadwick Boseman actioner 21 Bridges, which opened with only $9.1 million. Internationally, it opened to $2.7 million from 20 markets for global start of $11.9 million
